Survey/Certification Examination Updates

As medical technology and Allied Ophthalmic Personnel (AOP) duties change, IJCAHPO® strives to improve and maintain relevance of our educational offerings and certification examinations for current and future certificants.

August 2018
The core level certifications, Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA®), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT®), and Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT®) were updated in August 2018. The Registered Ophthalmic Ultrasound Biometrist (ROUB®) and the Certified Diagnostic Ophthalmic Sonographer (CDOS®) certification examinations were also updated. The core level certification examinations were updated to reflect the examination content areas as set forth in the Job Task Analysis (JTA) Survey. The JTA survey is conducted every 5 years and the results of the JTA survey are the basis for the development of the updated core certification examinations.
